Google Play stole hundreds of dollars worth of music I paid them for from me by forcing me to upload it to YouTube Music (or lose it entirely) which is behind a subscription paywall, requiring me now to pay more money every month if I want to listen to MY music I PAID for without constant advertising.
You do not own anything digitally purchased. It can be taken back from you at any time and it is fully legal for big corporations to do so for some reason.
CDs can’t be taken from you unless they come into your house or car in person to physically pry them out of your cold dead hands.

I spent so many hours burning CDs in high school. AND I STILL HAVE THEM. IN A CD FOLDER IN MY CAR. Because sometimes I drive through the mountains and lose cell reception and can no longer stream Spotify over bluetooth.

And for reference, since they took the disc drives out of computers for the same reason they fucked with headphone jacks, you can get a CD burner drive with a USB connection for like $30.

I work in a public service. My local school districts are cracking down on cell phones. A teen came into my work to try to burn their first cd.

They were having some trouble and I was secretly like (this is my moment, holy Shit, burning CDs almost continuously from middle school until a couple years ago is About To Be Relevant, what the fuck, fucking hooray)
And I go over, and I listen to the teen (they bought a cheap stack of 100 READ/WRITE CDS. 100!!! And a single-disc cd walkman!!), and we fuss with it, and I troubleshoot the issue they were encountering.
It was So Easy. To fix this issue. I had to do almost nothing. Media player was grumpy bc the files were not in the folder it wanted them in. I moved them. It started working.
“Oh my god, you’re a MIRACLE WORKER!!”
I will be thriving off that moment for Years.
And before I had to go, I told them, “hey, if you can find a compatible player for cheap, you can fit way more songs per disc on an mp3 cd. We just burned an audio cd.”

Last week, my boss was going through our closets at work to clean them out. We had a tower stack of blank read/write CDs. We are (supposedly) a digital-only workplace and we have nothing to use them with because we have no CD/DVD drives. They’re now mine because they otherwise would have gone into the garbage. My boss was astounded to discover I still burn CDs. “But what about digital music?” “Everything I buy I burn.” That music is mine.
I bought a CD-ROM player with a USB connector and a big stack of blank CD/DVD discs. You can also use YouTube to MP3/MP4 to make discs of music and content that you can’t get anywhere else.
call me ignorant but i genuinely don’t understand why sports have to be split up by gender.
@ everyone in the notes talking about physical performance: if that were the case, then sports would be divided by physical performance. that’s a thing you can measure. that’s a thing that varies by individual. a weak man and a strong man would be an unfair fight in boxing/wrestling/MMA, which is why they divide those sports up into weight groups based on physical performance. but they also further segregate them based on gender. chess is segregated by gender for no reason but sexism. if it’s actually about skill and physical ability, then measure those and separate people by those metrics. don’t do some bullshit gender segregation and pretend like men and women are inherently on different levels no matter their individual abilities.

Lyme disease can become very serious, it can infect the nervous system and cause neurological problems especially in young children who are often bitten on the head or the neck, undiagnosed it can cause chronic health issues that mimic other diseases. Without safe prophylactic measures beyond trying to minimize contact w ticks, this has driven people who have had lyme disease, have chronic effects from mass-disseminated lyme disease infection, or people who believe they have chronic lyme disease to go to quack doctors and undergo unsafe, unapproved medical treatment in an attempt to stop suffering.

Anti-vaxxers are a plague upon humanity. I work at a daycare, and we are REQUIRED by LAW to have those kids vaccinated, but somehow some parents find ways around these requirements and end up giving these preventable diseases to everyone else.
I was given the mumps by one of these kids whose parents either didn’t care enough to get the kid vaccinated or fell for that Jenny McCarthy bullshit. The mumps is a miserable illness and I am damn lucky that it was a fairly minor case. But minor or not it is still beyond painful to swallow and my entire right cheek swelled up to double it’s size. It was awful. I had to go to the ER on fucking Thanksgiving Day because some parents decided they knew better than every doctor practicing medicine who urges people to vaccinate their kids.

Do we have a source for the lyme disease plot? The article talks about how people likely misattributed naturally occurring arthritis for it being caused by the vaccine but doesn’t say anything about complaints in trials or organized efforts. Influenza is a virus with multiple strains that is constantly mutating and creating even more strains, just like the common cold. The flu shot is epidemiologists best guess at what strain will be spread around most each winter. If you encounter that strain, congrats! A vaccine stopped you from getting flu. If you are unlucky and come across a different strain? You may get sick anyway.
The point of it is that it kills the spread of a strain so that you only get sporadic illnesses, instead of community-wide illness.

i was grabbing something to eat at whole foods and one woman started shouting “excuse me?! excuse me?!” and I ignored her cause I don’t know her. She then came up to me and grabbed my arm and went “I was calling you! Can you help me find something?” and I was like….I don’t work here? And she rolled her eyes and went “Well can you find me someone who DOES?” and when I said “No, sorry” she got all huffy. like…..bitch I don’t work here and I’m not on the clock. I need to eat.
Once when I was in Target with my mom this woman tapped me on the shoulder and goes “do you work here? where can I find the baby section?”. The target dress code is a red shirt, khakis, non-slip shoes, and a name-tag. My mom and I were wearing none of these; I didn’t even own a red shirt at the time.
I just said, “we don’t work here??” She got mad and was like “Are you sure?” so I went “Are you stupid..?” and carried on shopping

this happened to me in best buy. nothing i was wearing resembled their uniforms, and i was very clearly shopping, testing out different laptops and shit.
this lady came up to me and asked what tv’s were the best (which like, you couldn’t ask someone in that department in the first place ? i was on the other side of the store ?), to which i explained that i don’t work at best buy. she got really pissy and kept demanding i help her and i was like i ? don’t ? work ? here ? i ? don’t ? know ?
she threatened to get “my” manager to which i had no response because again, i don’t work there. they’re not my managers. i just kinda said “okay…?”, and she really went and found a manager and brought him over to where i was just tryna find a laptop.
she starts telling him what happened, and he was like “ma'am,,, this kid doesn’t work here. he’s not one of our employees.”
she claimed that i should have helped her anyways, and that she’d be giving their store “a very bad review”

OK but if you don’t think that our generation is gonna be doing exactly the same thing once certain people hit 40, you haven’t been paying attention, we already went from “let’s be compassionate to the kids growing up” to “the next kid who mentions Fortnite in front of me gets punched”.
